Make Your Own Flute for Beginners
FM101 - $200.00
Designed for people with limited woodworking skills
I provide the wood. We make 1 flute together
Steve will do all of the cutting/use of power tools. You do everything else. Make the sound hole, glue, shape, sand, and tune
Uses milled wood - not a natural branch
You must come to Richmond VA
The class must take place over the course of 2 days. About 3 hours per day
Skilled Woodworker Flute Making
FM201 - $500.00
Plus travel >50 miles from Richmond VA
Learn how to make flutes tuned to any key, and any scale from start to finish
Make 1 flute together
You must have a wood shop with a router, table, core box router bit, table saw, drill and bits, block plane or lathe. Also a thickness planer and tabletop sander is helpful
I provide the wood
I will come to your workshop and show you how to make concert tuned flutes from milled lumber. Not natural branches.
Figure 2 days, 4 hours per day
Must be near Richmond VA or pay for travel
Natural Branch Flute Making
FM301 - $600.00
Plus travel >50 miles from Richmond VA
Must have taken FM201 or demonstrate proficiency in flute making
All of the shop requirements for FM201
Learn the skills for making these difficult instruments
Learn how to select the right branches
Learn how to ask for permission to remove the branch from it’s place of rest
Figure 2 days, 4 hours per day
Must be near Richmond VA or pay for travel
These are extremely difficult to make. The success rate is not very high. I will show you the techniques needed, but can not guarantee that you will have a finished product after our 2 days together. Only that you will have the skills needed. You will probably have to practice on your own for complete success
